Australian Tech Creating Efficiencies for Golf Clubs Around the World

POSTED ON November 25, 2023 @ 11:30 am

An innovative software solution developed in Australia is gaining international attention for its ability to address everyday challenges encountered by golf clubs who hire golf carts and equipment

Originating in Melbourne, the eGolf Cart Waiver (created by technology specialists Contractor-HQ) has already helped 100,000+ golfers across Australia digitally sign out golf carts, equipment and accessories.

Buoyed by growth in the Australian sector, Phil Rice (Co-Founder, eGolf Cart Waiver) explains that strong sales “show the benefit of listening to issues faced by golf club managers and working backwards to find solutions. Even in 2023 there are many clubs still using paper sheets to manage cart rentals and many utilise trust-based systems, which can invite a number of unnecessary risks”.

Leading with the eGolf Cart Waiver platform, Contractor-HQ are now maturing their distribution networks internationally out of London for the UK and Europe, and out of Arizona for the North American market.

Perth’s Wembley Golf Course has been an early adopter of the eGolf Cart Waiver platform, and is one of Australia’s busiest golf courses with two 18-hole courses, range facilities and 75 active golf carts utilised on a daily basis. Jason Roach, General Manager, explained “patrons didn’t like having to complete the waivers using old school pen and paper – they’d clearly prefer a quicker digital option if given the choice.”

Besides helping reduce exposure to risk, QLD PGA Club Professional of the Year winner Roach added that, “cost savings are another big drawcard. At Wembley we can manage up to 170 cart and equipment bookings per day, so previously we’ve had to purchase around 50 boxes of blue carbon books per year – a significant outlay as they’re not cheap.”

Roach explains that, “besides from being environmentally friendly, the eGolf Cart Waiver has resulted in operational efficiencies by cutting the amount of time it takes for our staff to take customers through the process.  It also reinforces to customers that we’re serious about maintaining our carts and equipment in good working order, so we believe it’s helping enforce a higher rate of compliance too.”

The eGolf Cart Waiver can be utilised as a stand-alone solution or as part of the wider Contractor-HQ business management platform – used by resorts, hotels and golf clubs to manage compliance and safety.

The platform’s ContractorManage module was launched in 2019 and helps established clubs including Royal Adelaide Golf Club, Woodlands Golf Club and The Western Australian Golf Club manage the engagement of third-party contractors in line with their legislative safety obligations.

The future looks bright for the eGolf Cart Waiver team with it currently assisting many Northern Hemisphere clubs in preparing their systems for 2024.

To learn more about the platform, the eGolf Cart team is offering open demo sessions that Australian golf clubs and sports management agencies can register via https://www.golfcartwaiver.com/online-demos. (The next group webinar is coming up on the 18th of October)
