JOB: Superintendent – Ranfurlie Golf Club

The Board of Amstel Golf Club Incorporated is pleased to announce the opportunity to become the next Ranfurlie Course Superintendent at this highly regarded and top-rated private club in Cranbourne, Victoria.

This top 100 Australian golf course was originally designed in 2001 by renowned architect Mike Clayton and is under ongoing review by the talented Clayton, DeVries & Pont.

Additional facilities include two maintenance buildings, 25ML dam with an adjoining water recycling feed-in, a public driving range, wetlands, landscaped club house and a separate hospitality site both of which feature associated gardens and other grounds.
The Course Superintendent will be entrusted to lead and inspire the greenkeeping team to maintain and improve on the already high standards of quality and playability that have been set by the club.
Role and responsibilities
The primary role and responsibilities will cover the full gambit of managing, maintaining and improving a world class golf course and include:
- Working closely with the Managing Director, Course Architects, and Greens Sub-Committee,
- Maintaining and improving the very high playing standards,
- Adhering to and optimising all green keeping practises, policies and procedures to ensure optimal and consistent results,
- Direct involvement in Workplace Health and Safety and International Standards (ISO) committees
- Leading and developing a team of greenkeepers with a view to maximising their individual contributions to the Club
- Development, in conjunction with the Finance Manager, of a full financial budget for the Course and associated reporting against this budget
- The role of Superintendent reports directly to the Managing Director,
- Regular attendance and contributions to sub-committee meetings, and an annual attendance at a Board Meeting.
Required qualifications and experience
- Significant experience successfully managing bent grass green complexes,
- Minimum of 5 years in the industry in a senior management position,
- One or more of either Certificate in Turf and Greenkeeping, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Agriculture or Horticulture (Turf),
- Comprehensive reporting and sound communication skills will be a necessity in the role
- A member of the Australian Golf Course Superintendents Association (AGCSA) or similar organization,
- Experience in managing a large team of staff with three or more direct reports,
- Effectively managing large operational and capital budgets whilst maximising savings through improved efficiencies,
- Private club experience preferred.

Additional skills and expertise in the following areas will be regarded favourably:
- A sound knowledge and appreciation for the game of golf,
- Demonstrated organizational skills and accurate record keeping, analysis and reporting to various stakeholders,
- Strong track record in environmental management and practises – ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System experience would give the right candidate an advantage,
- Proficient project management delivering on time and under budget.
- A desire to make continuous, incremental improvements will be beneficial
