Golf NSW & JNJG Expand Staff & Resourcing Agreement

POSTED ON October 3, 2023 @ 3:32 pm

Golf across the State enters a new era this month, with Golf NSW and Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG) sharing an enlarged range of tournament and administration resources.

The organisations currently share a single accounting system plus a network of Regional Managers at club level. From October 1st, the expanded arrangement will include sponsorship & marketing, government relations, media, tournament administration, and IT.

The expansion also means thoroughly re-evaluating policies for both entities, including administrative and governance policies, tournament conditions, performance pathways, child protection, staffing, and occupational health & safety.

Financial management, including annual budgets, will remain autonomous for Golf NSW and JNJG. However, they will reflect the greater collaboration between the bodies.

Both organisations remain separate entities in all other areas, including strategic planning, statutory (financial) reporting and governance (board-level) matters.

Golf NSW Chairman Michael Medway said that sharing resources between the two bodies will deliver superior services to the entire golfing community across the State.

“The expansion of the relationship equips both Golf NSW and JNJG to service our membership base better and provide a sustainable platform to grow the game of golf across NSW and the ACT.”

JNJG Chairman Clint Newton wanted to thank the Board of Directors and organisation teams who have worked tirelessly to form this vital partnership in recent months.

“On behalf of our Newton family, I want to thank and acknowledge Michael Medway (Golf NSW Chairman) and the Golf NSW Board for the continued collaboration with JNJG and commitment to junior golf through this new service agreement.

“The relationship is a positive step forward and ensures the foundation that Dad founded in 1986 will continue to thrive.

“Our family is extremely proud of Dad’s ever-lasting legacy, which prioritised children’s sport through junior golf in NSW and the ACT, and we believe this new partnership will continue to advance golf in this country.”

Stuart Fraser, CEO of Golf NSW, said establishing the Golf NSW/JNJG Regional Managers network had proved how valuable sharing resources is for both bodies.

“Thanks to the tireless work of our Regional Managers across NSW and the ACT, the relationship between Golf NSW, JNJG and our clubs has never been healthier.

“Now there is a far greater understanding at club-level about how we can best assist clubs to grow the sport, build participation, and maintain the game’s health in the long term,” Mr Fraser said.

JNJG General Manager Dale Hughes was excited about the new era set to begin this month.

“Over the last few years, JNJG and Golf NSW have worked closer than ever. Sharing resources moving forward ensures junior golfers across NSW and ACT will continue to have access to the country’s biggest and best junior foundation.”
