JOB: General Manager – Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club
About
The Paraparaumu Beach Golf Course is highly regarded on the world stage and is recognised as one of the best courses in New Zealand. The club has a proud reputation for golf in New Zealand, having hosted 12 NZ Opens and continues to stage many National Events. Strong membership growth is likely to pass 1000 members this year with over 40,000 rounds of golf played per annum. Recent investment in club facilities provides a significant opportunity to generate new revenues and enhanced services to members.
The role
The General Manager position is a significant and critical role, responsible for all operations within the organisation. We are seeking candidates with a proven record in senior leadership. It would be beneficial to have had experience in membership organisations, in particular golf clubs, or knowledge of the golf industry. Though while that background is desirable it is not essential; our focus is on candidates who bring the broad business skills and attributes we are looking for.
A success in leading teams is essential. We are looking for someone who has a background in building high-performance teams, and creating a great workplace culture through an enabling style of leadership. The role has a total staff of 16 and 4 direct roles.
The successful candidate will be a person with a clear strategic vision along with strong financial skills and business acumen. You will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills to deal with a wide range of external and internal stakeholders, very importantly, our members.
To drive ongoing growth in the club we are looking for results-focused candidates who have had a strong background in marketing, communications, and business development. This is a very busy role; you will need to be resolute and be able to sustain high levels of energy and composure during times of pressure.
