JOB: Assistant Golf Course Superintendent – Bribie Island Golf Club

The Club

Bribie Island Golf Club is recognised as one of Queensland’s premier members’ Clubs offering a championship course that has hosted several major state and national events.

Located at Woorim on Bribie Island’s eastern side, the Club is 45 minutes north of Brisbane and 45 minutes south of the Sunshine Coast in beautiful Queensland.

The Bribie Island Golf Club was founded in 1969, and currently has over 2,400 members across all categories with an annual turnover around $5 million.

The role

As the Assistant Course Superintendent, you will be responsible and accountable for effectively managing the golf course, maintenance facility and gardens of the Club in the absence of the Course Superintendent.  This full-time salaried position will require a flexible, versatile team player who has a strong understanding of the golf course requirements.   Our team of 8 staff take pride in presenting to our members and visitors a superb and ever-improving golf course.

Position Requirements:

  • Cert III Turf Management, coupled with at least 3 year’s experience.
  • Chemical Accreditation (can be obtained once successful).
  • Possess strong communication and interpretation skills.
  • Exceptional daily planning and efficient time management skills.
  • Exceptional eye for detail across all facets of Golf Course Management.
  • Conduct technical work such as pesticide applications, fertilisation, irrigation, equipment maintenance, equipment operations etc.
  • Assist the Course Superintendent to co-ordinate course maintenance activities with the club membership and club officials by attending and participating in meetings and appropriate club functions.
  • Operate and maintain a range of machinery and equipment used in performing duties.
  • Develop, implement and review programs to ensure surfaces and grounds are kept presentable.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Assist in the training and cross training of employees in golf course management.
  • Relieving and performing other duties as directed by the Course Superintendent or Management.
  • Flexibility to assist with occasional unscheduled or on-call duties on weekends.
