State’s finest honoured at 2025 NSW Golf Industry Awards

POSTED ON October 29, 2025 @ 9:10 am

NSW Golf’s finest assembled to celebrate the state’s high achievers at the 2025 NSW Golf Industry Awards, recognising the players, clubs, facilities, and volunteers driving the sport forward.

Declan O’Donovan and Ella Scaysbrook claimed the state’s top playing honours for the second year running, securing the Male and Female Amateur Player of the Year awards, respectively.

O’Donovan was celebrated for a history-making season in which he became the first player in nearly 50 years to defend his NSW Amateur title. His victory at the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship also earned him a start in the 2026 RBC Canadian Open. Scaysbrook was honoured following a breakout year, highlighted by a semi-final run at the US Women’s Amateur, propelling her into the world’s top 50 amateurs.

Clubs and Industry Leaders Recognised

Roseville Golf Club was named Metropolitan Club of the Year for innovation, sustainability, and community culture, noting a $1.5 million clubhouse upgrade and a strong commitment to inclusivity with 42% female membership. Fairbairn Golf Club secured Country Club of the Year following a transformative period of growth, including a $1 million masterplan and a focus on accessibility.

Thornleigh Golf Centre received the Facility of the Year award, recognised for its innovative approach, community focus, and commitment to growing the game through technology, diverse programs, and strong local partnerships.

The Services to Golf in NSW award was posthumously presented to Frances Crampton AM, a true pioneer whose lifetime of visionary leadership in golf, gymnastics, and wider sport left a legacy defined by inclusion and opportunity.

Riedell Jeffs of Frederickton Golf Club was named Volunteer of the Year, honoured for her extraordinary dedication and resilience in supporting her regional club, even while undergoing cancer treatment.

Stuart Fraser, CEO of Golf NSW, praised the award recipients: “These awards celebrate the very best of our golf community. From elite players achieving at the highest level to clubs, volunteers, and facilities welcoming new participants, it’s a reminder that our game thrives on both elite achievement and the dedication of those bringing golf to everyone. Each of these honourees has helped strengthen the fabric of our sport across NSW, setting a standard for others to aspire to.”
