Trilogy Hotels Appointed to Operate The Sands Torquay Resort
Independent hotel management firm Trilogy Hotels has been appointed by Central Real Capital (CRC) to operate The Sands Torquay resort on Victoria’s Surf Coast, effective July 1, 2026.
The agreement marks Trilogy Hotels’ entry into the Surf Coast market and expands its Australian portfolio and pipeline to 24 properties.
Resort Features and Amenities
Located 90 minutes from Melbourne’s central business district and 20 minutes from Geelong, the upper-upscale resort comprises 112 recently renovated suites, many overlooking the property’s championship par-72 golf course. The course was designed by Australian professional golfer Stuart Appleby and retains a dedicated membership base.
The property features a health club containing a six-lane, 25-meter indoor heated pool, a fully equipped gym, two tennis courts, and group fitness facilities. Its food and beverage operations consist of three distinct venues: Spike Café, Bunkers, and Shirley’s. For corporate and private events, the resort offers conference spaces capable of accommodating up to 400 guests in a theatre configuration.
Stakeholder Statements
Central Real Capital intends to focus on long-term stability and enhancements for the property.
“Our aim is to preserve, stabilise and enhance The Sands as an exceptional, high-quality, residential, hospitality and golf destination for the long-term,” said Tony Denny, representing Central Real Capital. “We look forward to working with Trilogy Hotels, an operator whose expertise, experience and commitment give us the confidence to see our vision come to life for resort guests and the surrounding community.”
Trilogy Hotels’ current portfolio includes regional resort and golf properties such as the Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains – MGallery Collection, Leura Golf Club, and Comfort Resort Leura Gardens.
“We are honoured to have been appointed by CRC as operators of The Sands Torquay,” said Scott Boyes, CEO of Trilogy Hotels. “Building on the resort’s natural strengths in golf, wellness, coastal leisure and business events, we are focused on unlocking the resort’s potential and delivering an enriched experience for guests and community.”
Regional Context
Positioned as the Gateway to the Great Ocean Road, the resort provides access to local leisure and natural landmarks, including Bells Beach, Point Danger Marine Sanctuary, Whites Beach, Point Impossible Beach, and the Surf City Retail Plaza. The location is positioned as an alternative to metropolitan venues for regional business and conference delegates due to its proximity to Melbourne and Geelong.
