Holt Named Chair of Australian Golf Foundation

The Australian Golf Foundation (AGF) has appointed Patrick Holt as its new Chair following an extensive selection process led by the AGF Nominations Committee.

Holt succeeds Stephen Spargo AM, who retired in December 2024 after helping establish the organization and guide its initial initiatives.

Background and Career

Holt enters the role with more than 35 years of experience in the investment management and banking sectors. He has served as Executive Director of Blue Quay Investment Management since 2012, with prior roles including Managing Director at Deutsche Bank in Sydney and London, alongside memberships on several Investment Management Committees.

As a lifelong golf enthusiast, Holt will now oversee the national fundraising body responsible for driving philanthropic investment in Australian golf.

“I am deeply honoured and excited to join the Australian Golf Foundation Board as Chair,” Holt said. “I appreciate the Board’s trust in me to lead the national fundraising body dedicated to enhancing philanthropic investment in golf across Australia.”

“Stephen Spargo has laid a strong foundation during his time as Chair, and I am optimistic about the future of the AGF under his legacy,” he added. “Golf is a sport that connects people and communities in profound ways. Through philanthropy, I am committed to ensuring that everyone, especially children from diverse backgrounds, has the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful game.”

Outgoing Leadership Legacy

During Spargo’s tenure, the Foundation established key initiatives, including the AGF Junior Girls Scholarship Program—its inaugural fundraising project aimed at developing young talent. Spargo also contributed to the establishment of the Peter Thomson Society.
