Surfers Paradise Golf Club is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Superintendent to join our agronomy team and play a key role in maintaining one of the Gold Coast’s premier golfing facilities.

This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious turf professional looking to advance their career within a progressive golf club environment. Working directly alongside our experienced Superintendent, you will be provided with significant mentoring and leadership development opportunities as part of a planned succession pathway, with the current Superintendent transitioning toward retirement over the next three years.

About the Role

Reporting to the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent will assist in the planning, coordination and execution of all golf course maintenance operations. The successful candidate will provide leadership to the maintenance team while helping ensure the golf course is presented to the highest possible standard.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the daily management and supervision of course maintenance staff.
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of agronomic programs.
  • Monitoring and maintaining irrigation systems.
  • Assisting with turf health management and course conditioning.
  • Coordinating daily work schedules and resource allocation.
  • Supporting workplace health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Assisting with budgeting, record keeping and reporting requirements.
  • Maintaining strong communication with management, staff and club stakeholders.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Qualifications in Turf Management or equivalent industry experience.
  • Sound understanding of all aspects of golf course maintenance and presentation.
  • Strong knowledge of turfgrass management practices.
  • Experience in irrigation system operation, troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Basic equipment and machinery maintenance skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team management and staff development capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement.
