This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated turf professional to make their mark at a club that is committed to providing an exceptional golfing experience for its members and guests.

About Settlers Run:

Located in Botanic Ridge, Settlers Run is home to an 18-hole Greg Norman-designed golf course. The course has developed a strong reputation within the Victorian golfing landscape, with a focus on presentation, playability and continuous improvement.

Alongside the golf course, the club offers a driving range and teaching academy, clubhouse, restaurant and recreational facilities. Our course team plays a central role in delivering the experience our members and visitors value.

The opportunity:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day management, presentation and long-term improvement of the golf course and practice facilities.

You will lead and support the course maintenance team, develop and deliver maintenance programs, and work closely with management to maintain the high standards established at Settlers Run.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and motivate the course maintenance team, creating a positive and accountable workplace.
  • Manage the daily presentation and maintenance of the golf course, including greens, tees, fairways, surrounds, bunkers and practice facilities.
  • Develop and deliver turf management programs, including mowing, irrigation, fertilising, pest and disease management, and renovations.
  • Manage course resources, equipment and maintenance schedules effectively.
  • Prepare and manage the course maintenance budget in consultation with the General Manager.
  • Plan and deliver course improvement and capital works projects.
  • Monitor irrigation, drainage and water use to support the long-term health and playability of the course.
  • Ensure safe work practices and compliance with relevant environmental, chemical and workplace safety requirements.
  • Communicate course conditions, maintenance activities and planned work with management and relevant club committees.
  • Work collaboratively with the golf operations team to balance maintenance requirements with member and guest play.

About you:

The successful applicant will be a hands-on leader who takes pride in course presentation and enjoys developing a team. You will bring a practical approach to managing a busy golf course and a commitment to providing an outstanding playing experience.

You will ideally have:

  • Relevant qualifications in turf management or a related field.
  • Experience as a Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent or in a similar senior turf management role.
  • Strong knowledge of turf agronomy, irrigation, drainage and golf course maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team.
  • Sound budgeting, planning and project management skills.
  • A practical understanding of workplace safety and environmental responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with management, staff, committees and members.
  • A current driver’s license and relevant chemical accreditation, or the ability to obtain it.

Why join Settlers Run?
