Singapore: Malaysian Gavin Green has received another accolade in his fledgling career, being named as the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month for September.

Touted as one of Asia’s brightest prospects, Green booked his spot in this week’s lucrative CIMB Classic by defeating title-holder Ben Leong with a birdie on the first play-off hole at the SapuraKencana National Classic.

His win, which made him a clear fan favourite, was another feather in his cap after a stunning season during which he has won two titles on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) and represented Malaysia in the Olympics.

“I’m deeply honoured to be named as the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month. Many thanks to Hilton and to the people who have voted for me as this win will only spur me to do better,” said Green.

Hilton Worldwide is a Full Business Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

The Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month award is one of the partnership initiatives aimed at recognising outstanding efforts of Asian Tour members both at home and abroad.

The online voting contest to determine the monthly winner engages golf fans as they vote for their favourite golfer through the Asian Tour’s media channels, culminating with fans voting for the Asian Tour Hilton Golfer of the Year at the end of 2016.

Besides casting their vote for their favourite player on the Asian Tour, fans, who log onto www.asiantour.hiltongolf.com also stand a chance to win a one night stay at any Hilton property of their choice.

Green won the award ahead of Chinese Taipei’s Chan Shih-chang and Thai Phachara Khongwatmai. The trio were nominated by a selection panel before going into a voting process.
