Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: United States-based golf course builder Heritage Links has formed a joint-venture with Malaysia golf services company MST Golf to offer golf course construction services in Asia.

Named Heritage Links MST, the new company – a Full Business Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation – will provide golf course project management services throughout the region.

The combined expertise of the two companies provides Asian golf developers and existing golf course owners with a new solution for turn-key golf services that now include all phases of golf course construction and renovation, said a statement from Heritage Links MST.

Heritage Links, based in Houston, Texas, has been involved in many well-known golf course construction projects in recent years. These include the building of Liberty National in New Jersey, the renovation of the Blue Monster Course at Trump National Doral in Florida, and the construction of Chambers Bay in Washington state, site of last year’s US Open.

In additional to its US projects, Heritage Links has built courses in Mexico, Asia, the Middle East and the Caribbean.

A ‘Certified’ builder by the Golf Course Builders Association of America, Heritage Links won the 2007 Builders Excellence Award for its work at Liberty National and the 2008 award for its work at Chambers Bay.

Over the years, Heritage Links has maintained strong working relationships with prominent golf course architects and designers around the world.

To better serve clients in Asia more effectively and efficiently, Heritage Links decided to form a joint venture with a strong local partner with the same long-term business objectives, said the statement.

MST Golf, based in Kuala Lumpur is a pre-eminent golf company in Southeast Asia and provides a full range of integrated services.

With the slogan ‘Everything Golf’, its services include retail, wholesale, driving ranges, teaching academies, corporate merchandise, event management and golf vacations.

Established since 1989, MST Golf is a significant regional player with distribution and sales channel infrastructure, well established to cover Southeast Asia with its corporate head office in Kuala Lumpur and offices in Singapore, Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City.

At the core of the company is the largest golf retail chain in Malaysia and the region’s most recognised golf retailer and key retail partner for many top international brands.

Among those brands, MST Golf is the long-time merchandise licensee for the PGA Tour and LPGA in the region.

Leveraging on its knowledge of the Asia business environment and culture, extensive networking and solid reputation in the global golf industry, MST Golf is extending its golf service portfolio to include golf course construction and project management through its partnership with Heritage Links.

The new company, which is based in Kuala Lumpur, will be devoted to the project management of course construction, renovation and rebuilding projects.

Craig G. Corbett is heading the Heritage Links Asia office. He has extensive experience in operational management and project co-ordination within the golf course construction and renovation industry.
