Director of Golf
Lonsdale Links is in an exciting period of transition with a new 18-hole golf course and clubhouse due to open in December 2020. Renowned architects Ogilvy Cocking & Mead are confident that the new course will be well entrenched in the Top 100 Courses in Australia. The new clubhouse designed by Wood Marsh is also set to become a central hub for the community of Point Lonsdale and a high-quality experience for people travelling to the Bellarine.
This is a permanent Full-Time role. As a member of the club’s Senior Management Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the daily practical operational requirements but will also work closely with senior management and have input into the future strategic shape and direction. Innovation, creativity and working autonomously are essential.
The Director of Golf is an operational role leading the Golf Operations department. The main focus is to deliver successful golfing and retail outcomes as set out by the General Manager. The Director of Golf will be required to contribute to marketing and corporate initiatives as well as maintain all financial components of the operation in line with budgeting.
Key Responsibilities
- Management of golf shop retail operations to a profitable standard.
- Full accountability for golf operations including tee times, social bookings, public visitors, driving range and Par 3 Course.
- Course player management to include the speed of play and course usage analysis. Management of all player conduct, dress and etiquette standards.
- Planning, execution and administration of all elements of all golf competitions, tournaments and corporate events as per the annual business plan and calendar of events.
- Perform relevant administration duties with regards to staff management, financial reporting, and member requirements.
- Ensure the facility’s processes and protocols are in keeping with current industry guidelines and WH&S requirements.
- Engaging with Members and guests ensuring the club is meeting and exceeding expectations of service and product delivery.
- Work closely with the Management Team to develop and implement an annual business development strategy for the golf facility.
- Responsible for development of the knowledge and service levels of the golf operations team.
- Develop strategies to maximise player yields for both competitions, green fee play and cart usage.
- Administer, design and develop all game improvement programs including, but not limited to, juniors, women’s, seniors and beginners.
- Match Committee Secretarial duties.
- Assist Membership Manager with Membership inquiries and new Member processes.
- Manage execution of Corporate Golf Days

Preferred qualifications
- Certified PGA Member
- Advanced within Management/Small Business with the PGA ACE Program
- Tertiary educated within Business/Management
