Director of Golf
The Bairnsdale Golf Club is looking to recruit a Director of Golf to manage the day to day operations of the club’s golf department. Additionally, the successful applicant will ideally contract to the club as its Teaching Professional. Inboth roles the successful applicant will become an integral member of the management team and report directly to the General Manager.
About Bairnsdale Golf Club:
Bairnsdale Golf Club is located in Eagle Point,Victoria (10 minutes South/East of Bairnsdale), immediately overlooking the picturesque Gippsland Lakes.
The club has over 700 members including 60 lawn bowl members and a growing green-fee player base and is considered one of the best in rural Victoria, a par 71, 6,033metreparkland layout with bent putting greens and full couch fairways.
The condition is exceptional year-round due to the riviera climate of East Gippsland and the club’s philosophy of people & facilities first. The club and course are regularly recognised by industry peers for its exceptional standards as demonstrated by the below awards:
- Golf Australia facility of the year 2015 & 2016.-

- PGA Victorian country pro-am of the year 2015 and 2017.
The Director of Golf Role:
We are seeking an enthusiasticPGA Member to lead and manage the golf department team to consistently exceed the expectations of our Members and guests. The right applicant will have a strong work ethic, be committed to ongoing improvement and possess impressive communication skills.
The Director of Golf will manage the entire day to day operations of the Golf Shop including:
- All golf specific member services.
- Competitions, member accounts and electronic time sheets.
- Merchandising, retail sales, stock control and point of sale systems.-
- Department profitability.
- Staff development, basic training and rostering.
- Equipment repairs.
The Teaching Professional Role:
The successful applicant will be responsible for creating and delivering all manner of lesson programs and golfing pathways. The key focus of the role will be increasing junior and beginner clinics, participation and pathways for membership growth while still servicing the lesson needs of existing members and public alike.
The number of hours worked in a standard week is a point of negotiation for the club with some flexibility.Obtaining the best balance of Golf Shop hours and Teaching to achieve the most productive outcome is of primary concern.Applicant presentations or recommendationsregardingthis balance will be considered and encouraged.
Expectations:
This full-time salaried position requires permanent weekend work (likely Saturday or Sunday, not both). The successful applicant must be a current PGA Member and will preferably possess:
- Exceptional communication and management skills.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Management experience in a member service environment is preferred.
- A strong passion for coaching and for attracting juniors & new players to the game.
- Club fitting experience and qualifications preferred.
