Multimillion-dollar eco-resort & golf course plan for Tasmania’s East Coast
A BOLD plan for a $100 million eco-resort and golf course now before the Glamorgan Spring Bay Council is shaping up to be the largest development the East Coast municipality has ever seen.
The five-star Cambria Green project — which will be considered by the Glamorgan Spring Bay Council tomorrow — is a major redevelopment of the 3185ha Cambria Estate at Dolphin Sands, north of Swansea.
Put forward by Melbourne company Cambria Green Agriculture and Tourism Management and backed by Chinese investors, the proposal spans 12 titles of land alongside the Tasman Highway as well as near holiday homes north of Nine Mile Beach.
It includes the 100 to 120-room luxury Cambria Sky Hotel, tourist accommodation of 70 villas and 240 units set below the hotel, an 80-unit health retreat, a wedding, function and conference facilities, an 18 and nine-hole championship golf course as well as 80 apartments to cater for golf, water activity and other sporting visitors.
The development will also include a village boasting restaurants, shops, cafes, a pharmacy, medical and dental services, an art gallery, gym, children’s play area and organic farming spaces.
