Regency Park Community Golf Course gender-neutral tees a hit

POSTED ON December 10, 2024 @ 3:32 pm

Golf is a sport bound by customs and tradition, however, it is currently undergoing a profound transformation that seeks to redefine and grow the sport. At the forefront of this revolution is Regency Park Community Golf Course, owned by the City of PAE and operated by Greenspace Management.

Regency Park symbolises the changing face of golf, breaking barriers and making the game increasingly accessible and welcoming to a diverse range of players. This includes a wide scope of community events, the construction of SHANX Mini golf, and enhancements around the course to make it more welcoming.

Traditionally, golf has been a game dominated by competition and the pursuit of excellence. However, in recent times, there has been a noticeable shift. Today, golf is not just about competition; it’s about wellness, community, and forging social connections as a game that brings people together.

In line with this, and to help the game evolve, Regency Park Community Golf Course has introduced new gender-neutral tees on each hole, marking a departure from the conventional male and female tee choices. These new tees are not just about inclusivity, they’re about redefining how golf is played. They encourage golfers to choose tee lengths based on their driving distance and skill level.

‘Our aim is to offer a more enjoyable, flexible, and inclusive game for players of all abilities.’ said Sudeera Botrejue – Facility Manager, Regency Park Community Golf Course.

‘Gender-neutral tee boxes level the playing field, emphasising skill and strategy over gender. The course is designed to be equitable, offering every golfer an equal opportunity to showcase their skills and enjoy the game to its fullest.’ Said Peter Vlahandreas – Managing Director, GreenSpace Management.

‘Players are now empowered to select tee box colours that best suit their game, providing them with a better golfing experience in a relaxed, community-focused environment.’ Said Mayor Claire Boan – City of Port Adelaide Enfield

At Regency Park Community Golf Course, our vision is to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where the love for golf transcends traditional boundaries. Our new tees are just another innovation that leaps us forward into the modern era of community focused golf course management.
