SEEK: Course Superintendent – Pymble Golf Club (NSW)
Pymble Golf Club is a private Members’ club located on Sydney’s North Shore. Established in 1924, and with a very proud history, Pymble Golf Club has long been providing Members and their guests with first-class facilities and service to ensure an outstanding experience every visit.
An opportunity now exists for an experienced superintendent to lead our dedicated course team to continue to elevate course standards for our 1,400 plus Members.
The Club is entering the second year of its current 5-year Strategic Plan, which has identified key course construction projects to be completed before our Centenary Celebrations in 2024. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team to deliver these projects.
Key Responsibilities of the Course Superintendent, who reports directly to the General Manager, include:
- Set the annual works program for the day to day operations of the golf course, vegetation areas, waterways and surrounding grounds offering ideas for improvements to conditioning and maintenance practices on a regular basis for discussion;
- Ensure that all course staff are performing assigned tasks in accordance with their job description and in line with SOP’s and control measures;
- Maintain the golf course and practice areas to agreed standards all year round;
- Develop and propose both short- and long-term maintenance practices and develop strategies that achieve the quality and cost objectives of the Club;
- Support and train staff ensuring a team that shows initiative, responsibility and accountability;
- Attend and contribute to management and Greens Committee meetings; and
- Maintain WHS standards across the course.
Key Performance Attributes and Experience
- Certificate/Diploma in Turf Management, Irrigation or equivalent and/or extensive relative experience;
- Extensive experience as either a Course Superintendent or 2 I/C;
- Demonstrated knowledge of turf maintenance and the management of commercial irrigation systems;
- Proven organisational and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage financial and physical resources, resolve problems, meet deadlines, organise activities and achieve results;
- Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with staff, industry stakeholders and relevant associations;
- Excellent communication and organisational skills; and
- Participation in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, site visits and trade shows;
