POSTED ON September 30, 2024 @ 3:46 pm

The Sands Torquay, a recently refurbished, four-star resort and golf course, has been listed for sale on behalf of the Receivers and Managers.  The sale will include all Freehold Land and Business.

Located in the seaside town of Torquay, the resort is situated on a 76.5ha site and comprises of 112 suites, a restaurant, conference facilities, an award-winning 18-hole Stuart Appleby designed golf course and a 20-bay driving range, as well as a health club which includes an indoor 25m swimming pool and tennis courts.

The resort was built in 2007 and designed by award-winning architect, Perrott Lyon Matheson. The resort recently underwent a significant refurbishment which uplifted it to a 4.5-star standard.

The golf course won the Pro-Am of the Year in 2022 by Australian PGA and has a strong membership base, along with holding regular golfing tournaments and being a popular destination for corporate golf events. Originally developed by Handbury Group, the golf course is one of the most prominent privately owned golf courses in Australia.

CBRE’s Scott Callow is managing the sale via an Expression of Interest campaign closing 30 October 2024.

“The Sands Torquay is being reoffered to the market by Receivers. This ideally located Stuart Appleby Golf Course, 112 suite resort hotel along with food, beverage and health club facilities is situated just over one hour drive from Melbourne. Torquay is recognised as the central hub to the Surf Coast and at the start of the Great Ocean Road which is one of Victoria’s most popular tourist attractions. The 76.5ha freehold land will be sold with a fully operational business with a hotel, golf course, 25m indoor pool and health club with gym facilities” Mr Callow said.

“The substantial site has the potential to create additional residential lots surrounding the golf course along with a medium density townhouse development on existing land. (STCA).”
