Top golf course architect appointed for Flagstaff Hill

POSTED ON January 23, 2019 @ 7:56 pm

Elevating Flagstaff Hill Golf Course to the best golf course in Southern Adelaide has been entrusted to one of the best golf course architects in Australia, Neil Crafter of Crafter & Mogford.

Together with his partner, Paul Mogford, Crafter & Mogford has been involved in the master planning, detailed design and construction inspections of a large number of impressive projects, including Kooyonga, Glenelg, Thaxted Park, Victor Harbor, Patawalonga South, Fleurieu and the West Lakes Golf Club. They have also redeveloped or built new courses in Victoria, NSW, WA and Tasmania, and are currently the golf course architects for the prestigious Metropolitan Golf Club in Melbourne.

Their reputation has spread overseas too, with golf course projects in Malaysia, China, India and Vietnam.

While the redesign of the Flagstaff Hill Golf Course is still in the early planning stages, Neil revealed that a priority was to improve the standard of the playing surfaces, enlarge some greens, remove and trim some trees to improve visibility and widen the playing corridors. “The structure is there – we just need to improve on it, source additional water and invest in additional equipment. I’m confident that we can make the course at Flagstaff Hill the best in Southern Adelaide.”

Neil is well-known in golfing circles, representing Australia four times, including at the 1984 Eisenhower Cup. He won the South Australian Amateur Championships four times, the Australian Foursomes Championships three times and was the New Zealand Stroke Play Champion in 1983. He is the Founding Member and Past President of the Society of Australian Golf Courses and presents regularly at seminars for the Australian Golf Course Superintendents’ Association and the Golf Managers’ Association.

Neil will be at the launch of Living Choice Flagstaff Hill’s first villas at Flagstaff Hill Golf Club on Saturday 23rd February between 11am and 1pm. Come along and meet him there. To find out more about Living Choice Flagstaff Hill please contact Katherine Stacey at 1800 502 524.
