Job: Director of Coaching – Indooroopilly Golf Club (Brisbane)

The Club

Indooroopilly Golf Club (IGC) was founded in 1926 and today has more than 2,200 members. The 36-hole complex features four nines of different character together with extensive training and practice facilities. A step change opportunity has presented that enables IGC to enter a significant development growth phase and position the Club as an industry leading facility.

The role

IGC is now accepting applications from consummate industry professionals for the full time permanent position of Director of Coaching.  The successful applicant, as a member of the senior management team, will play a pivotal role in shaping the future development of IGC. They will bring a high level of commercial acumen to the role, demonstrating strategic leadership and the ability to grow the IGC commitment to golf excellence. They will actively develop and manage instructional golf programs as part of the golf operations team providing exceptional levels of service to establish the IGC golf experience as world class.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, develop and monitor the performance of the Teaching Professional team to suitably position IGC in the market and build the brand reputation.
  • Provide strategic input to the development of state of the art practice facilities that shape the future of the Club.
  • Plan and execute strategies for the growth of instructional golf programs with specific emphasis on junior development and women’s programs. Provide clear pathways for game development programs from beginner through to elite.
  • Build collaborative working relationships with local schools and appropriate organisations.
  • Manage IGC’s Pennant teams and develop high performance programs.
  • Meet and greet prospective Members as an integral part of IGC’s membership induction program.
  • Develop and execute strategies to convert golf clinic participants to membership options.
  • Work closely with the Retail Manager to maximise member satisfaction for golf equipment sales and repairs in line with budgetary targets.
  • Work closely with the Membership and Marketing Manager to co-ordinate social media campaigns promoting instructional golf program opportunities.

 

Qualities:

  • Preferable although not mandatory, a current member of the Australian PGA with recognized accreditation;
  • Proven experience in development of teaching programs in a similar environment;
  • Prior members golf club and/or high end resort experience is advantageous.
  • Expert knowledge of golf equipment, club repairs and rules of golf, plus fundamental knowledge of golf facility operations and competition operations;
  • Ability to act as a role model to Members and staff by demonstrating the behaviour and work ethic commensurate with a world class facility;
  • Possess a thorough, organized and detail-oriented approach to work;
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, prepare reports and present to the senior management team;
  • Valid driver’s license and qualified to work full time within Australia;
  • Hold a current Blue Card for compliance to work with juniors.

The successful applicant will enjoy an attractive remuneration package in a vibrant Club atmosphere. The role is primarily focused on business development and delivery against measurable targets in clinic participation, conversion, Member satisfaction and volume levels for hardware and repairs. Further compensation may be achieved through commissioned lessons over and above this package.
