ASIA: Rob Weiks appointed Southeast Asia area manager for Rain Bird Golf

POSTED ON August 7, 2021 @ 8:30 am

Rob Weiks is the newest addition to Rain Bird’s Southeast Asia Golf Team.

In his new role as area manager, Weiks will be responsible for Rain Bird’s strategic sales planning, business development and golf market share growth in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Guam and Brunei.

He will also establish and manage relationships with distributors, golf course owners, greens committees, superintendents and other golf market influencers while promoting Rain Bird solutions for both new golf course projects and renovations.

“We are extremely pleased to add Rob to our team,” said Mark Donohue, Rain Bird’s regional manager for Southeast Asia. “He has a strong background in irrigation operating systems combined with valuable product and field knowledge that will help us continue to build Rain Bird’s brand presence in this part of the world.”

A native of Brisbane, Australia, Weiks has more than three decades of experience in the horticulture industry, including extensive knowledge of nursery, landscape and turfgrass maintenance. He has traveled throughout Southeast Asia, building and maintaining courses in Dubai, China, Azerbaijan and Vietnam.

He and his family are currently residing in Vietnam and will soon be relocating to Singapore.
“Rob’s impressive experience working with designers, contractors, installers, specifiers and consultants will reinforce our products as the best choices for top-performing golf course irrigation systems,” Donohue said. “His familiarity with Southeast Asia makes him an ideal fit for this position, and we look forward to additional success in this important market.”
