POSTED ON October 20, 2022 @ 7:19 am

Nine has signed a two year broadcast deal with Golf Australia for two major upcoming events.

The Australian PGA Championship will be held at Royal Queensland in November, and the Australian Open in December at Victoria Golf Club and Kingston Heath, screening across Nine / 9Now.

Nine’s Director of Sport, Brent Williams, said: “The Australian Open and Australian PGA Championship are premium tournaments with a rich history and Wide World of Sports is proud to be a broadcast partner for the next two years. The quality of Australian golf is at an all-time high, and the players confirmed to take part in these revered events ensure there will be plenty of interest from golf fanatics and sports lovers on both the 9Network and 9Now.”

Director of 9Now and Programming, Hamish Turner, said: “9Now is the best free destination for large-scale sports events in Australia, with the top four highest streamed programs of 2022. We will provide viewers with the best local golfing experience in this new partnership, all for free and in full high definition.”

Golf Australia CEO, James Sutherland, said: “The 2022 ISPS HANDA Australian Open is shaping up as a brilliant celebration of Australian golf. The free-to-air broadcast on Nine and 9Now will further enhance the status of this world-first event and ensure it is accessible to all Australians.”

PGA Commercial Director of Australasia, Michael McDonald, said: “This announcement is a huge win for golf fans, and we’re delighted that the PGA Tour of Australasia’s two major events, the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship and the ISPS HANDA Australian Open, will be available to millions of golf fans free-to-air on the 9Network or 9Now.”
