Masterplan Unveiled for Arundel Hills Country Club on the Gold Coast

The owners of the now-derelict Arundel Hills Country Club on the Gold Coast submitted a masterplan to the local council on May 17, proposing the site be redeveloped into an infill residential enclave with nearly 450 home lots.
The plan includes three precincts to be delivered in stages, including a low-density urban residential subdivision with a mix of housing sizes for different family profiles, lifestyles, and price points.
About 40% of the site will be dedicated to the council for environmental conservation purposes, open space, and conservation, while part of the vision is also to “gift” land to the nearby AB Paterson College for its expansion and use for the sporting and recreational pursuits of its students.
The proposed development has received opposition from some local residents who claim it would set a “dangerous precedent” for Gold Coast golf courses and “rip the green heart” out of Arundel.
The application will be “impact assessable” which means it will have a public notification and feedback period for residents.
