Controversial North Lakes Golf Course Redevelopment Sparks Debate at Moreton Bay City Council Meeting

The developer of the former North Lakes golf course site, JH Northlakes, has presented their proposal to Moreton Bay City Council.
The plan includes building 250 independent living units, a 120-bed residential care facility, and converting 46 hectares of private land into public open space.
Despite strong opposition from residents, the developer argues that the proposal aligns with the council’s future planning documents and addresses the need for senior housing and open space in the area.
They claim that the proposal won’t worsen flooding or traffic issues and that many concerns raised by opponents are based on misunderstandings.
The developer warns that if the proposal isn’t supported, a golf course is unlikely to return to the land due to its lack of commercial viability. This presentation was made during a council meeting’s Community Comment segment, which allows brief statements without discussion.
