Golf NSW Announces Board Members for 2024/25

POSTED ON October 22, 2024 @ 11:02 am

(Mr Ryan Murray from Royal Canberra Golf Club will join the Golf NSW Board in 2025.)

Following the closure of nominations, three individuals have been elected unopposed to the Golf NSW Board for the 2024/25 term.

Mr Michael Medway, the current Golf NSW Chair, and Ms Mandy Henry, the deputy chair, will return to the Board, while Mr Ryan Murray from Royal Canberra GC in the ACT will join the Golf NSW Board for the first time.

Mr Murray, Director of Government Relations at Canberra Health Services, is a seasoned sports administrator with experience across multiple disciplines.

He brings significant strategic planning and coordination expertise to Golf NSW, serving as Captain and Board Member at Federal Golf Club from 2019 to 2023.

During his tenure at Federal, Mr Murray played a pivotal role in shaping the club’s direction and fostering an inclusive atmosphere for players of all skill levels.

Mr. Murray holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance) from the New York Institute of Technology. He has been with the ACT Government since 2015, honing his financial management, leadership, and governance expertise.

A passionate advocate for creating inclusive environments, Mr Murray’s commitment to supporting beginner golfers underscores his belief in a welcoming and supportive culture in the sport.

In addition to his involvement in golf, Mr Murray has contributed to sports administration more broadly. He was a Rebels Baseball Club (ACT) committee member in 2014-2015, reflecting his dedication to community and sports development.

His role as Tournament Coordinator at Angus Glen Golf Club in Toronto, Canada, further highlights his ability to manage large-scale events with precision and professionalism.

Renowned for his clear communication style and collaborative approach, Mr Murray will contribute thoughtful, strategic input to the organisation’s decision-making processes.

His focus on transparency and well-informed solutions will undoubtedly benefit Golf NSW in the coming years.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Golf NSW Board where I hope to demonstrate my ambition to make golf more accessible and sustainable,” Mr Murray said.

“When deciding to stand for the Board, I believed my values and experience in the golf industry will benefit in shaping the future direction of Golf NSW with the aim of providing support and growth at a grassroots level.

“I hope to contribute to the Golf NSW Board with this in mind while representing my community and surrounding region.” Mr Murray said.

Stepping down from the Golf NSW Board at the completion of his term is Mr Stephen Browne.

During his time on the Board, Mr Browne made significant contributions, particularly as the Golf NSW Strategic Projects Committee Chairperson.

His leadership in exploring new income diversification opportunities was instrumental in securing the organisation’s financial stability and future growth.

Mr Medway expressed his appreciation for Mr Browne’s dedication and service to the Board and the sport statewide.

“I wish to thank Stephen for his time and dedication to the role he performed while on the Board.

“Though much of his work went unnoticed by many of our participants, his efforts will have a lasting impact on the future of the organisation as we continue to expand.

“He is a good friend and has been a great servant to member clubs,” Mr Medway said.
