Swing Factory Expands to Queensland with Major Deception Bay Redevelopment

POSTED ON August 23, 2025 @ 8:59 am

Swing Factory, one of Australia’s fastest-growing names in golf entertainment and driving range innovation, has announced its latest expansion with the acquisition and planned redevelopment of the Deception Bay Driving Range. The multi-million-dollar upgrade will transform the site into a state-of-the-art golf and lifestyle destination, with reopening anticipated in mid-to-late 2026 (STCA).

The Deception Bay project will mark Swing Factory’s fourth venue nationally, joining the company’s established facilities at Terrey Hills in New South Wales and Morack Public Golf in Victoria, as well as its recently announced Maitland venue in the Hunter Valley. The move signals another step forward in Swing Factory’s ambition to create Australia’s first connected network of modern, community-oriented golf ranges.

Setting a New Benchmark

Swing Factory is not simply opening driving ranges—it’s reshaping what a golf practice and play environment looks like. The brand has quickly earned a reputation for venues that blend high-performance technology with family-friendly entertainment. Its facilities are designed to welcome everyone: from dedicated golfers chasing data-driven improvement, to newcomers and families looking for a fun and social day out.

“Swing Factory is setting a new benchmark for how golf ranges operate in this country,” said Managing Director and Co-Founder Erich Weber. “The days of single-purpose, practice-only facilities are behind us. Today’s golfer—and their families—are looking for much more. We’re proud to bring that future to Deception Bay.”

The redevelopment aligns with the rapid population growth in the Moreton Bay corridor, one of Queensland’s fastest-expanding regions. By combining golf performance, leisure, and hospitality under one roof, Swing Factory aims to create a true community hub.

What to Expect at Deception Bay

The upgraded venue will feature a wide mix of cutting-edge technology and premium amenities designed to broaden the appeal of golf. Plans include:

  • The Clubhouse: A central gathering space with an integrated alfresco area for relaxed socialising.
  • All-weather driving bays: Covered, lounge-style hitting areas, each equipped with auto-tee systems and provision for robotic ball collection.
  • Toptracer Range technology: Installed across all bays, bringing professional-level ball-tracking, real-time shot data, and interactive game modes. Used in over 1,500 venues worldwide, Toptracer has proven to boost engagement from golfers of all skill levels.
  • Architect-designed mini golf: An 18-hole, immersive course created by Australian mini golf designer Richard Chamberlain, offering family fun and a gateway into golf for beginners.
  • Food and beverage program: Curated menus designed to appeal to both the casual visitor and the post-round golfer.

Weber said this multi-layered approach is what makes Swing Factory stand out: “We’ve seen the concept thrive at Terrey Hills and Morack, where passionate players share the space with young families and social groups. It’s golf, but reimagined for a modern audience.”

A National Growth Strategy

The Deception Bay redevelopment is part of Swing Factory’s broader expansion plan. With a strong pipeline of new sites under review, the company is building toward a truly national footprint.

“This announcement is another step forward for Swing Factory,” Weber said. “We have firm plans to expand into multiple cities across Australia, setting a new standard for how golf facilities engage and entertain the modern player. Deception Bay is just the beginning for Queensland—we look forward to announcing additional projects very soon.”

The company’s expansion reflects broader industry trends. Driving ranges globally are evolving from practice-only facilities into multi-dimensional entertainment venues. By combining performance technology with leisure offerings, operators are attracting a more diverse audience, including younger players, women, and families who might not otherwise step foot on a golf course. Swing Factory’s approach is very much aligned with these shifts, offering a model that prioritises inclusivity, social connection, and fun alongside traditional golf improvement.
