Hospitality & Turf Management Manager/Couple: Ratho Farm Highlands Resort

POSTED ON October 9, 2025 @ 2:19 pm

Ready for a Change? Lead Tasmania’s Most Unique Golf Resort.

Are you a Greenkeeper with an eye on management? An Ex-PGA Pro looking to diversify? Or perhaps a couple with a strong background in hospitality/events (ie chef, wedding planner, or event coordinator), ready to take on an iconic property?

Ratho Farm is a deeply charming, quirky, and historic resort—home to Australia’s Oldest Golf Course (the only public 18-hole course in Southern Tasmania) and a highly sought-after wedding and event venue. We’re not just a business; we’re an experience built on genuine warmth and heritage.

We are seeking an enterprising Manager or Management Couple to act as the primary Hosts of Ratho Farm and our sister property, the Bothwell Hotel (1km away). This is a unique opportunity to live, breathe, and grow a truly special business.

What You’ll Be Doing as “The host”

This is a profoundly hands-on role where you are the face, heart, and mind of the resort. We need a warm, welcoming personality who can also run a tight ship.

1. The Turf & Course Elevation:

  • Elevate the Golf Experience: Oversee and project manage the upgrading of the turf conditions, golf course irrigation, and overall presentation with our Greenkeeping team.
  • Grow Golf Tourism: Drive the operations and strategy for Australia’s oldest and most unique public course.

2. The Hospitality & Events Leadership:

  • Be the Warm Host: Provide a memorable, high-quality “home-style” atmosphere. This means being the face of the resort, sharing local stories (especially our rich Scottish history), and ensuring every guest feels like a private guest of the estate.
  • Hands-On Operations: Direct, face-to-face delivery of high-quality food & beverage service, coordinating boutique accommodation servicing (we have 22 rooms plus the 7 at Bothwell Hotel), and potentially some home-cooking for smaller groups.
  • Full Business Oversight: Coordinate a busy events schedule (especially weddings), manage the team (staffing/rostering), handle stock/ordering, and ensure smooth administrative and computer operations.

3. Property Management:

  • Coordinate general property maintenance, housekeeping, and project manage a range of infrastructure upgrades.
  • Conduct minor property maintenance where needed.

Our Dream Applicant

Between the individual or couple, you need the experience, but most importantly, the personality to be the welcoming heart of the resort.

Essential Experience & Traits:

  • A “Warm Host” Personality: You must be outgoing, engaging, enjoy others’ company, and be a natural storyteller.
  • Management Muscle: Proven sound knowledge of daily accommodation and restaurant/F&B operations, including strong leadership and administrative skills.
  • The Right to Work: Must currently have the right to work in Australia and hold or be able to obtain all relevant industry certificates (like RSA).

Highly Desirable Backgrounds:

  • A Seasoned Greenkeeper ready to transition into full management, bringing unparalleled expertise in turf/course conditioning.
  • A Hospitality-focused Couple where one partner has strong hotel/restaurant management skills and the other brings a skillset like Chef, Event Coordination, or Wedding Planning.
  • An Ex-PGA Pro with the desire to broaden skills into full-scale hospitality management and leverage deep golf knowledge.
  • A Passion for the Region: An interest in at least one of the following: colonial history, fishing, genealogy, or golf.

Classification: Hospitality & Tourism Management,

Salary & Perks: Competitive package ($75K – $150K including benefits). This includes base salary, quarterly performance bonus, on-site accommodation, food, car, and mobile phone.

Full-Time (4 days on, 3 days off weekly)

Location: Bothwell, Tasmania (1-hour scenic drive north of Hobart)

Start: Spring/Summer 2025/26

Interested? Apply Now.

This is a direct-report role to the owner, requiring an autonomous, self-starter mentality. Practical assistance will be provided to help you settle into the beautiful Bothwell village community.

To Apply: Please submit your CV and a brief cover letter outlining why you are the perfect Host/Manager/Couple for Ratho Farm.
