Kooyonga Confirmed for LIV Golf 2027 as Economic Impact Exceeds $217 Million

POSTED ON October 10, 2025 @ 2:13 pm

Greg Norman, Peter Malinauskas and Scott O’Neill, following their announcement that Adelaide will remain the exclusive home of LIV Golf Australia.

LIV Golf Adelaide, in partnership with the South Australian Government, today confirmed a dynamic long-term venue strategy for the hugely successful tournament, securing its future in the state until at least 2031. The new rotation plan will see the championship move to Kooyonga Golf Club in 2027, following the previously announced 2026 event at The Grange Golf Club.

The strategic decision to rotate venues is underpinned by the tournament’s immense economic success, having already generated more than $217 million in economic benefits for South Australia in its first three years. The most recent tournament alone generated a record-breaking $81 million and welcomed over 100,000 attendees across three days.

Kooyonga Selected for 2027

Kooyonga Golf Club, widely recognised as one of South Australia’s premier private championship courses, has been selected to host the 2027 event. The club has a storied history, having hosted multiple Australian Opens and state championships, welcoming legends such as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, and Greg Norman.

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas MP noted the significance of the event and its long-term commitment to the state.

“LIV Golf Adelaide has been an economic success for our state—delivering more than $217 million in economic benefit in its first three years, and helping to cement South Australia as a national and global destination for major events,” Premier Malinauskas said. “Securing Kooyonga Golf Club as the next host venue continues that momentum, bringing visitors, jobs and investment into our economy while showcasing Adelaide to viewers across Australia and around the world.”

Strategic Future Planning: 2028 and Beyond

The announcement confirms a robust future pipeline for the tournament, reinforcing the long-term commitment to golf infrastructure development in the state:

  • 2026: The Grange Golf Club (with tickets already selling fast).
  • 2027: Kooyonga Golf Club.
  • 2028 onwards: Work is continuing on the redevelopment of the North Adelaide Golf Course, which is set to transform it into one of the world’s best public golf courses and become a host venue for LIV Golf from 2028.

The partnership with LIV Golf is secured through to at least 2031, with the government highlighting the event as more than just a sporting fixture—it is a platform to promote South Australia’s food, wine, and lifestyle to a national and international audience, providing a flow-through benefit to the tourism, hospitality, and broader economy.
