Mogford Steps Down as President of SAGCA After Four Years

POSTED ON July 6, 2026 @ 12:45 pm

MELBOURNE, Australia – The Society of Australian Golf Course Architects (SAGCA) has announced a leadership transition, with Justin Trott voted in as the organization’s new President. Trott succeeds Paul Mogford, who is stepping down from the role after completing a rewarding four-year tenure.

During his presidency, Mogford guided the Society through a period of significant engagement and industry alignment, focusing on strengthening commercial partnerships, global representation, and grassroots design initiatives.

Reflecting on his time leading the Society, Mogford highlighted several key achievements:

“It’s been a privilege to serve during such a meaningful chapter for our Society. Personal highlights include attending the EIGCA conference in Turkiye, restructuring and strengthening of sponsor partnerships, welcoming in new members, supporting the R&A/USGA Ball Rollback MLR, and contributing to Golf Australia’s Best Tees Program.”

Mogford’s term was also defined by deeper integration with the broader golf sector via the Australian Golf Industry Council (AGIC), working on high-level sustainability and growth strategies.

“Through AGIC, I’ve also enjoyed playing a role in shaping the industry’s future – from the Australian Golf Strategy to Golf Australia’s Greenest Sport initiative – a role I look forward to continuing with,” Mogford stated.

As he transitions out of the presidency, Mogford expressed his gratitude to the executive team and extended his support to his successor.

“Sincere thanks go my VP Justin Trott who I also congratulate on being voted in as our new President. To Paul Reeves and Scott Champion – thank you! It’s been a pleasure.”

Trott takes over the presidency at a time when the SAGCA continues to prioritize sound environmental design, modern technology integration, and collaboration with international architectural bodies.
