AGIF Launches Sustainable Practices Seminar Series

POSTED ON December 1, 2019 @ 8:47 am

The Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) will mark the New Year with the launch of a Sustainable Practices Seminar Series.

During the final two weeks of March, 2020, sustainability will be a key topic on the agenda at industry events in the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand.

Eric Lynge, the AGIF’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “Sustainability and environmental awareness continue to be buzz words within the global golf industry.

“Over the course of the past year it’s been encouraging to see an ever-increasing number of golf clubs and associations in Asia embracing the subject – and acting on it.

“As the umbrella body for the golf industry in our region, we believe it’s important for us to shine an even brighter light on sustainability.

“For that reason, we’re looking forward to focusing attention in 2020 through the launch of a Sustainable Practices Seminar Series as part of various events with which the Federation is already heavily involved.”

The Series will tee-off on March 19-20 with the Philippines Golf Course Management Conference at The Orchard Golf and Country Club, organised in partnership with the Federation of Golf Clubs Philippines.

The Series will then head to Taipei for the Taiwan Golf Industry Expo and Forum at Sunrise Golf and Country Club on March 23-24, staged in conjunction with the Taiwan Golf Club Association.

The concluding leg of the first three-part Series of the year will be held in the Thai resort city of Pattaya from March 25-27.

As well as the Asian Turfgrass Management Exposition at Siam Country Club’s Plantation Course, the gathering will include the Sustainable Turfgrass Management in Asia Conference at Dusit Thani Pattaya, in partnership with the Thailand Golf Course Superintendents Association.

Lynge said: “Based on past feedback we’ve received from delegates and exhibitors, in 2020 we’ll be looking at grouping several regional markets into one swing for ease of attendance for many of the overseas visitors.

“At each of the events, we’ll be including education on both golf and sports field management, as well as club management. Field days at which exhibitors can showcase their latest products will also be featured along with lucky draws at which trips to the inaugural AGIF Expo in Bangkok (November, 2020) and the SMBC Singapore Open Volunteer Programme (January, 2021) will be on offer.”

Lynge said further series locations and dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
