Asian Golf Industry Federation Confirms Schedule of Events

POSTED ON March 17, 2019 @ 5:28 pm

The Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) will stage educational events in six countries across the region between now and the end of the year.

Speaking at this week’s Turfgrass Management Seminar and Exposition in Pattaya, Eric Lynge, the AGIF’s Chief Executive Officer, confirmed further gatherings targeted at course superintendents and club managers will take place in 2019 in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

“We’re pleased to announce an exciting schedule of events in the coming months,” said Lynge.

Emphasising the AGIF’s aim to support the entire industry, Lynge said all of the forthcoming events will be open to members and non-members of the Federation.

“The success of our education programmes continues to improve each year, as the AGIF increases its focus on education and strives to cement its standing as one of the leading golf organisations within the region,” said AGIF President Richard Walne.

Lynge added: “In partnership with the Thai Golf Course Superintendents’ Association (TGCSA), we’ve enjoyed an outstanding Turfgrass Management Seminar and Exposition here in Pattaya this week and we look forward to replicating that success as we move around the region.”

Held under the auspices of the TGCSA, the Expo was part of a three-day gathering in the Central Thai beach resort that was highlighted by a high-profile conference on Sustainable Turfgrass Management in Asia.

Next on the calendar for the AGIF is the Philippine Golf Course Management Conference at Cavite’s Orchard Golf and Country Club on May 9-10.

That will be followed by a Vietnam Turfgrass Management Seminar and Field Day in Danang in July.

From there it’s onto the Indonesian capital of Jakarta on August 20-21 and then Malaysia (September/October) and Taiwan (November/December).

To complete the year, the inaugural edition of a significant new annual conference and exhibition for the turfgrass and club management community in Asia will be held in the Thai capital of Bangkok from December 11-13.

“It’s our aim to confirm dates and venue details of the remaining events in the coming weeks,” said Lynge.

In 2018, the AGIF organised two Turfgrass Management Seminars and Field Days in Vietnam and one each in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand. There was also a stand-alone Mini Summit in each market in addition to Club Management Association of America’s Certified Club Management degree education sessions and the first in a series of Certification in Greenkeeping.

Dates and venues for further Certificate in Greenkeeping and Club Management events will also be released shortly.

For further information and to register as a delegate or book exhibition space at the forthcoming events, please contact the AGIF at eric.lynge@agif.asia
