Fire destroys Gisborne Golf Club clubhouse

POSTED ON April 17, 2024 @ 1:40 pm

A golf clubhouse and local RSL sub-branch in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges has been destroyed by fire overnight.
About 17 Country Fire Authority (CFA) units responded to the fire at Gisborne Golf Club on Daly Street about 2.25am.
The clubhouse is also home to the Gisborne RSL Sub Branch, which described the incident as “devastating” a week before ANZAC Day.
It took crews nearly two hours to deem the fire, which had destroyed the clubhouse, as under control.
“(It’s a) sad day for the community,” the Gisborne RSL Sub Branch said.
“The Gisborne Golf club was the home of the Gisborne RSL Sub Branch. As an RSL we have lost everything we had there right before ANZAC Day.
“We wish to thank the firefighters that attended for doing a great job as they always do. It is such a shame a beautiful building and part of Gisborne has been lost.”
The fire is no longer being deemed as suspicious.
