Golf Australia and Future Golf Announce Three-Year Partnership

POSTED ON February 19, 2026 @ 11:02 am

Golf Australia and Future Golf have officially announced the expansion of their strategic partnership through 2027.

This three-year alliance arrives during a period of growth in the sport, aiming to bridge the gap between casual play and traditional club culture.

The Three Pillars of Progress

The renewed agreement is built on a foundation designed to provide security, credibility, and growth. Future Golf members will continue to receive:

  • The Strategic Investment Fund: A first-of-its-kind co-developed fund targeting grassroots growth, with a specific focus on women’s participation and supporting newcomers.
  • Seamless Handicapping: Official Golf Australia handicaps delivered directly through the Future Golf app.
  • Comprehensive Coverage: Full player insurance, ensuring members enjoy the same protections as traditional club members.

From “Social” to “Traditional”: The Membership Pipeline

While Future Golf is often seen as a flexible alternative to the traditional club model, the data suggest it is actually a vital feeder system. To date, more than 14,000 members have used the Future Golf pathway to transition into traditional club memberships.

“We’ve worked closely with Future Golf as an affiliated member since its inception… and they’ve done a fantastic job growing the game,” said James Sutherland, CEO of Golf Australia. “The Strategic Investment Fund is the next evolution of working together and will be pivotal in building a more vibrant and sustainable golf ecosystem.”

Investing in the Future

The launch of the Strategic Investment Fund represents a shift from simple cooperation to active co-investment. By focusing on “incremental growth,” the fund targets demographics that have historically been underrepresented on the fairways.

Ali Terai, Founder and CEO of Future Golf, views the expansion as a natural evolution of their mission.

“We’re creating real pathways that make the sport more inclusive, accessible, and exciting,” Terai stated. “Working more closely with Golf Australia allows us to offer even more value to our members while investing meaningfully in golf’s future.”
