An exciting opportunity has become available at one of Sydney’s premier golf clubs to fill the role of 3rd In Charge of the Course Maintenance Department.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated, career minded turf professional to work at one of the leading clubs in Sydney.
Tucked away in pristine bush land on Sydney’s North, Avondale boasts a beautiful bushland setting with towering gum trees that frame the 25 hectares of Santa Anna Couch playing surfaces. With 5-year-old A1/A4 bentgrass greens, an ongoing bunker renovation program and various upcoming construction projects, the course maintenance department are ready to take the Course to the next level.
Working closely with the Course Superintendent and Assistant Course Superintendent, the successful applicant will be an integral part of the course maintenance management team and will assist the Assistant Superintendent in the management of the day to day running of the maintenance program. As this is a key leadership role, the position will assist in planning of the work schedule, planning and implementation of the chemical program, irrigation scheduling and will fill in for the role as Assistant Superintendent during their absence.
The successful applicant will have an understanding of the game of golf.
Responsibilities
- Supervision and management of the course team
- Assists in scheduling and planning of the maintenance program
- Mixes and applies fertilizers and chemicals
- Assists in planning and implementation of the chemical program
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent communication skills
- Competent computer literacy
- Compliance with environmental regulations
- Significant knowledge of turf related chemicals, pests and disease management
- A sound knowledge of irrigation and water management practices
