JOB: Chief Executive – PGA of New Zealand
ABOUT
The Professional Golfers’ Association of New Zealand (PGA) was founded in 1913 and now has more than 400 members in New Zealand and around the world. As part of the World PGA Alliance and the strongest brand in golf, the PGA delivers educational programmes and professional development for members, conducts events such as the NZ PGA Championship, Pro-Am tournaments throughout the country,and the Charles Tour(with Golf NZ). The PGA also advocates for its members, as experts in the game and business of golf,in promoting career development opportunities in New Zealand and offshore.
THE ROLE
The PGA is now seeking a new Chief Executive to work with and in a small enthusiastic team and Board to continue to develop our brand and profile and the key objective of growing the game of golf through our members. You will be a person that is happy to roll their sleeves up and assist other employees to get the job done.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:
- Senior leadership experience and an in-depth understanding of member-based organisations, ideally in the Golfing or Sports sectors
- The ability to relate to members and their issue with a genuine appreciation and understanding that we area membership organisation, and ourmembers are at the heart of what we do
- Evidence of having effectively managed and grown small organisations and being able to identify and deliver strategies to make a genuine difference
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Good all-rounder and a quick learner, probably stemming from a diverse career path to date
- Industry knowledge/background, or a deep understanding and appreciation of golf and its traditions would be beneficial
