JOB: Course Superintendent – The Springs

Set amidst the beautiful and tranquil rural properties of Peats Ridge and located only 40 minutes from Wahroonga and just over 1 hour from Newcastle, The Springs is the perfect place to eat, drink, play and celebrate.

About the role 

The Springs is seeking an experienced Course Superintendent – who has the skills and experience to assist the venue achieve its full potential under new Ownership and Management.

Applicants must have appropriate industry qualifications and understand that “First Impressions” count. The successful applicant also must know what is required to present a high-quality golf course and can deliver an exceptional playing experience.

The Course Superintendent should be highly motivated and possess exceptional leadership skills and be able to drive a positive culture and team.

As the Course Superintendent, you will be responsible for a variety of duties to ensure the course and surrounding grounds are meeting Management and Owner’s standards. Some of your key tasks will include:

  • Supervising the equipment servicing, scheduling, and repair shop to ensure efficient operation.
  • Implementing maintenance programs that align with agreed budgets.
  • Providing expert advice and solutions to promote continuous improvement of the golf course and surrounding environment.
  • Managing the course staff and ensuring they are trained and licensed to carry out their duties, in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Overseeing recruitment and all staffing matters for greenskeepers, with management oversight.

Proven Skills in the following

  • Be team focused, with strong leadership, training, and staff management skills.
  • Development and Execution of SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) including course standards, Course Enhancement Plan, Landscape Master Plan, Environmental Management Plan and Annual Maintenance Plan.
  • Assist Management to implement the Club’s strategic plan.
  • Be confident in all areas of WH&S, staff rostering, and other duties related
  • Structured daily and weekly golf course maintenance.
  • Have a full understanding of all current golf course machinery operations and experience in managing preventative maintenance programs.
  • Have experience in irrigation and maintenance issues.
  • Relevant Sports Turf Management or Horticultural Trade or equivalent qualifications.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Accreditation in Chemical Applications & Safe Handling
  • Current Drivers Licence.
