Our Pro Shop has recently finished a full renovation and upgrade which has provided us with enhanced merchandising options, increased sales and added an exciting new vibe to the property to complement our fleet of 80 golf carts.
We now have an exciting opening for an experienced Director of Golf.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Golf is responsible to lead and manage the golfing operation with respect to golfer enjoyment, engagement, events, retail, tuition and member services.
The Director of Golf is required to think at a strategic level, continuously developing and reviewing all aspects of the golf operation. The Director of Golf shall take personal responsibility for identifying methods to improve customer service opportunities, ensuring customer service excellence is consistently delivered and maximising revenue streams and profitability.
Key responsibilities and duties include:
Golf Operations
- Ensuring best possible customer experience delivery from both retail golf shop and golf cart operations
- Organisation and management of golfers
- Oversee the daily operation of the driving range facility
- Liaise with the Executive General Manager and Golf Course Superintendent regarding daily golf course setup and maintenance
- Monitor the ‘pace of play’ of all golfers via the Visage GPS System
- Communication with the Events Coordinator regarding golf events, in-house groups and their daily requirements
- Staff hiring, training and development
- Management of budgets and monitor expenditure
- Evaluate and manage employee performance and other HR issues relevant to the department
- Develop and/or assists in the development, implementation, evaluation and interpretation of operational procedures
- Develop weekly staffing rosters
- With assistance from the Financial Controller, prepare and manage operational and financial reporting and answer to the Executive General Manager regarding results
Retail
- Manage the retail inventory of the Pro Shop including all purchasing, invoicing, pricing, merchandising and stock control including the monthly stock take.
- Plan and implement promotional activity
- Advise staff of new product lines, price changes, stock availability etc.
- Manage the store layout and physical condition of the Pro Shop
- Liaise with sales representatives in regard to the purchasing of product, product showings and meetings, clothing indents and warranty issues
- Manage and implement the purchasing and sales budgets of the Pro Shop
- Management of the Pro Shop Point of Sales System and software.
To be successful in this role YOU will have:
- Golf course management qualifications or similar business qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a retail/customer service management environment in the golf industry
- The ability to work well under pressure and maintain a professional manner
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent presentation and consistency in both your work and personal life
- Membership of the Australian PGA is desirable as is a current first aid certificate
