JOB: Events Manager – Golf Australia (VIC)
Golf Australia is the governing body for golf in Australia.
Our goal is to raise the level of interest and participation in the game from grass roots golfers through to the elite levels, spectators, volunteers and associated bodies. Our key responsibilities include conducting events for every level of golfer, including the Australian Opens, managing the Rules of Golf and the handicap system, and developing programs and opportunities to engage as many people as possible into the game.
About the Role:
The Events Manager will be responsible for managing the Golf Australia events program in Victoria, including all men’s, women’s, junior and senior golf events, Pennant competitions and related activities and teams.
This individual will also be involved in delivering events and activities in other states/territories, and nationally, and events managed by the PGA of Australia.
They will also provide strategic event planning input nationally and implement plans that will enhance the performance and quality of events and participation in golf.
They will work closely with the Victorian events staff, other GA event staff, PGA of Australia staff, volunteers and facilities to deliver the GA events program with a high level of professionalism.
Specific duties include:
- Overseeing the Victorian program of events, ensuring events align to GA strategic priorities and delivery levels;
- Providing quality input to GA and the State Board concerning strategic event planning in Victoria and Australia-wide;
- Providing leadership and quality management in the delivery of events for players of all abilities, including men’s, women’s, junior and seniors
- Managing the Victorian Pennant competition;
- Assisting with the Vic Open as required;
- Overseeing the Victorian event program budget;
- Developing and maintaining effective communication and working relationships with key stakeholders relating to events and golf operations;
- Researching and applying for local council grants for relevant events;
- Managing escalated queries from stakeholders;
- Other duties as required
Your Experience:
To be considered for this position you will need to have demonstrated experience in a leadership role, managing a small team, and end to end event management. You will have the ability to problem solve and make sound decisions collaboratively with a team and individually. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
In addition, you will have availability to spend considerable time at tournaments/events throughout metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria and interstate, and the ability to work non-traditional hours such as weekends and evenings.
Golf experience is preferred.
