Located near the beautiful Geographe Bay, Busselton Golf Club is one of the best courses in the South West. With a busy competition calendar and growing membership numbers, this exceptional General Manager role provides the opportunity to lead, develop and strengthen the core Golf Club departments (course, clubhouse and pro-shop) whilst also supporting the Boards future growth plans.

About the Role

The Busselton Golf Club is seeking an experienced senior-level General Manager to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the club. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with the Board, Department Heads, Members and Visitors alike.

Key responsibilities

  1. Oversee and guide all aspects of the Clubs primary functions (Course, Golf shop, Clubhouse and Administration).
  2. In consultation with the Board, assist in the implementation of the strategic direction of the Club and lead the Club in ensuring delivery of compliance deliverables and other KPI’s.
  3. Drive a culture of service excellence across all areas of the Club’s operations.
  4. Ensure the Club’s property is maintained to a high standard.
  5. Ensure compliance with all relative legislative requirements including Industrial Relations, Work, Health & Safety, ATO requirements and the Club Constitution.
  6. Evolve the Club to a higher-level service-focussed environment for members, guests, sponsors and the wider community.
  7. Implement programs to build employee, member and guest engagement.
  8. Support and develop staff across all departments, identifying and implementing procedural, training, and operational needs

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate would ideally have:

  1. Experience as a senior-level manager in managing the day-to-day operations of a golf club, and a demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with a Board, members and Department Heads.
  2. Proven record of having delivered positive business growth at a golf club (or similar size club).
  3. Proven ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders including members, staff and the wider community.
  4. Strong financial acumen with demonstrated ability to create and manage budgets, cost control, achievement of targets and deliver outcomes to plan.
  5. Preparation of Board packs and financial reporting is essential
  6. Ability to support and guide the Board through compliance, quality and regulatory issues including overseeing adherence to the Club Constitution.
  7. Exposure to a variety of marketing activities including but not limited to website, social media platforms and strong member and visitor communication strategies.
  8. Experience in overseeing the delivery of major programs – e.g. capital works projects.
  9. Familiarity with Xero, MiClub and SwiftPOS.
  10. Strong networks in the golf industry, GMWA or similar
  11. Proven record of positive community engagement including contracting of club sponsorships and corporates.

Benefits

Busselton Golf club offers some flexible working arrangements with respect to working hours, however given the seven-day a week nature, will require weekend work and even hours to attend member events as appropriate.

The position offers a base remuneration of $130,000 per annum inclusive of superannuation, with scope to increase this amount commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience.
