JOB: General Manager – Pinjarra Golf Club

About

Pinjarra Golf Club is a Championship 18-hole golf course located in Peel district of Western Australia, 80km from the Perth CBD, and 18km east of Mandurah. The course is highly rated with the greens consistently considered amongst the best in Australia.

The club has a total membership of 600, with 500 active players. The course is open to visitors and receives over 10,000 green players per year. The Board has a three-year strategic plan in place, with a vision to develop into a vibrant, successful family sporting and social club for members, the local community, and visitors to the Shire of Murray. The Club is in the process of having a Master Plan delivered for the redevelopment of the whole facility offering including a new clubhouse and integrated mini golf facility.

The role

Our Club is seeking to appoint a new General Manager, a role that is an integral part of the Club’s plan to grow and deliver the highest standards of service to our members and club patrons in every aspect of our business. A focus on developing our people, engaging all stakeholders, creatively growing the business and exceeding targets are essential skills for this role.

The Club is looking for a proactive and hands-on leader, who has the proven ability to ensure the venue operates at its full potential, whilst identifying and creating efficiencies and new revenue streams.

The role will manage and oversee all areas of operation including grounds, facilities, bar and functions, golf operations including the pro-shop. Direct reports include the Course Superintendent, Golf Operations Manager, Food & Beverage Manager, and the Accounts Officer. Whilst experience particular to golf industry is desirable, applicants from other general or sporting club backgrounds will be considered.

The successful applicant will also possess these key attributes:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • The ability and energy to inspire, train and motivate a small team.
  • Excellence in customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and manage effective marketing strategies to increase patronage across all business areas (corporate events, functions, public golf participation, golf membership, social membership).
  • Proven financial management, business acumen and budgeting experience.
  • Experience in management of all operational areas of a club – sporting operation, bar, gaming, catering & functions.
  • A thorough knowledge of Club Industry legislative and regulatory compliance.
  • A minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior leadership role in the club industry.

This role will require flexibility with work hours. A remuneration package commensurate with skills and experience will be offered to the successful candidate.
