Royal Fremantle Golf Club seeks the service of an experienced Golf Manager to lead our Golf Operations and work with the wider management team to create the ultimate golfing and social experience for our members and guests.

Royal Fremantle Golf Club is one of the premier golf clubs in Western Australia with over 1,200 members and is the oldest 18 hole golf club on its original site in Western Australia, having formed in 1905. We are proud of our history, heritage and our Royal status.  Accordingly, we have a strong focus on upholding our longstanding traditions, balanced against our progressive culture and commitment to innovation and growth.

Our course, an 18 hole, Par 72 championship course, is the jewel in our crown and we enjoy the opportunity to showcase our outstanding golf facilities as a WA Open host club every five years and the Webex Players Series host Club in 2025,2026 and 2027.

We have diverse membership base and are proud to be the home Club for a number of the states elite amateur and professional players.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Golf Manager, is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the Club’s golf calendar, competition management, retail offering, and tuition provision.   The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, an excellent planner and communicator, and be passionate about delivering quality service, high standards, and experiences to our members and guests.

Primary Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Managing all aspects of the retail shop including stock provision, merchandising and inventory management;
  • Managing a golf operations team to meet the requirements of the department including staff recruitment, performance management, rostering, identification of training needs and development of a strong service culture;
  • Managing all facets of golf operations including setting annual fixtures schedule, delivery of member competitions and casual play, social and corporate bookings, State and National hosting events and all other on course play;
  • Liaising with the Course Superintendent to ensure course set up requirements are conveyed for competitions and fixtures; and
  • Working with the General Manager to deliver the Club’s strategic objectives relating to competition provision, member engagement, service orientation and financial targets;

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Prior experience in a similar golf management or golf retail leadership role;
  • Prior experience in the golf industry as a PGA accredited Professional or experience as a retail manager in either a private or public golf setting;
  • Previous experience in MiClub golf and competition management software
    Previous experience in a members-based organisation;
  • Demonstrated ability to work positively and collaboratively with staff, fellow peers, Committees and members;
  • A Continuous improvement mindset;
  • A High level of personal drive & resilience;
  • Current First Aid Certificate;
  • A sound understanding of the game of golf and the Golf Australia handicapping system with experience in tournament management; and
  • The ability to work both as a team member and with autonomy.
