About the club

The Club now manages all Golf Professional Services, and you will have the opportunity to work in a newly refurbished Golf Shop, provide tuition and custom fitting to our 1,200 golfing members, and further 7000 social members with many more visiting the area throughout the year.

Nelson Bay Golf Club was founded in 1961 and is a busy 27- hole championship golf club generating circa 85,000 rounds of golf annually. Located on the outskirts of the Tomaree National Park in the heart of Nelson Bay, just minutes from the Nelson Bay CBD, our golf course is supported by a purpose-built clubhouse that accommodates a wide variety of events and socialising, this makes us the ideal destination for short breaks, family holidays, corporate golf days, social golf group destinations, weddings, or conferences.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Golf, we are seeking an enthusiastic PGA member to join our team in the role of Golf Professional. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching the game to others and grow his/her profile as a golf coach. Initially, a guaranteed minimum 20–30 hours per week in the Pro Shop will be on offer, with unlimited lessons taking place outside of rostered hours. You will be a part of a friendly and supportive team, have opportunities for professional growth and development, and work in a picturesque environment.

Main duties include

• Acting as the first point of contact for members, guests and visitors who visit, call and email the Golf Shop
• Assist with member and visitor enquiries in relation to golf bookings, timesheet management, coaching services, equipment and retail enquiries, and Club events
• Provide an exceptional retail experience to our members and guests, contributing to retail sales and offer expert advice on equipment repairs
• Conducting teaching services to elevate the skills of our members and guests
• Provide club fitting services to our members and guests, contributing to retail sales and offer expert advice on equipment repairs
• Assist in the administration and delivery of the Club’s Junior Program
• Engage with local schools in delivering MyGolf programs
• Deliver individual lessons

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes

• Maintain PGA of Australia membership in good standing in an active classification.
• Prior experience working in a golf shop having provided golf tuition services to all levels of golfers.
• Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behaviour and work ethic expected of all employees.
• Self-motivated with a desire to promote and market products and services.
• Service and guest focused with a can-do attitude.

Remuneration Package:

• Hourly rates will be very competitive.
• Coaching will be 100% commission.

The final package will be negotiated based on the successful candidate’s level of experience.
