JOB: Qualified Greenkeeper / Experienced Groundsman – Wolston Park Golf Club

WPGC is now accepting applications from dynamic and innovative industry professionals for the full-
time position of Qualified Greenkeeper/Experienced Groundsman. The successful applicant will join a
course maintenance team focussed on fulfilling the potential of the golf course whilst providing
excellent playing facilities.
The beautiful Wolston Park Golf Club is located on the majestic Brisbane River in Wacol. It is only 20
minutes from the Brisbane CBD and 15 minutes from the centre of Ipswich.
This hidden gem is nestled away on the bend of the river providing a tranquil setting for a perfect day
of golf. The clubhouse overlooks the river and the course boasts a challenging layout through
picturesque hills and flats, all surrounded by native trees and wildlife.
The Club was founded in 1961 and today has around 600 members. An opportunity has been
presented that offers this position to the right person as the Club enters a significant development and
growth phase which will position WPGC as an industry leading facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all phases of agronomic operations with legislative compliance.
- Provide a high standard of course presentation and playing conditions consistent with WPGC
long-term objectives. - Troubleshoot irrigation as required. Assist with the development of plans and strategies with the course leadership team for continual improvement of the course operations, resource allocations, and personnel both short and long term.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability within the industry of warm season agronomy practices;
- Strong interpersonal skills, employee engagement and team leading focus:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working on a golf course.
- Hold a current driver’s license.
- Experience and knowledge in preparing quality golf course playing surfaces.
- Current sprayers licence or equivalent for the application of chemicals would be an
advantage. - Competency in the use and maintenance of specialised golf course equipment.
- Chainsaw licence would be an advantage.
- Experience and knowledge in golf course renovation programs and practices.
- Experience in irrigation servicing and repairs would be an advantage.
- Experience in managing work health and safety practices.
- Exceptional eye for detail across all facets of golf course management.
- Some mechanical experience would be an advantage.
- Effective listening, verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with people in a
variety of circumstance from various backgrounds; - Possess a thorough, organized and detail-oriented approach to work;
- Able to plan, prioritize and co-ordinate, multi-task and complete work assignments within
deadlines; - Prior course construction experience is advantageous.
