Steinlager Becomes Official Beer of Golf New Zealand

POSTED ON October 6, 2025 @ 9:24 am

Steinlager and Golf New Zealand have announced an exciting new partnership, making the iconic brew the Official Beer of Golf New Zealand. The collaboration is set to drive value for golfers and clubs nationwide, celebrating the unprecedented growth the sport is currently experiencing.

The partnership will integrate Steinlager’s “New Zealand’s Finest” brand platform into the golf scene. Upcoming campaigns will offer golfers the chance to win a range of exciting prizes, experiences, and exclusive giveaways across the country.

New Support for Golf Clubs

Crucially, Lion, Steinlager’s parent company, is set to launch a new commercial offering for golf clubs throughout New Zealand. This move will significantly expand Steinlager’s presence and support for local clubs nationwide.

The partnership comes at a time of remarkable expansion for the sport. Golf club membership in New Zealand hit an all-time high in 2025, representing a 50% increase in just five years. Golf New Zealand notes that more New Zealanders than ever are discovering the game’s mental and physical benefits, making it a “sport for life that connects communities across generations.”

This shared commitment to community, growth, and celebrating national achievement is the foundation of the new alliance.

Building on a Sporting Legacy

Steinlager has a proud history in golf, notably partnering in the 2002 New Zealand Open at Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club, a landmark event that brought Tiger Woods to New Zealand and garnered global attention.

Chae Blewitt, GM Commercial and Marketing at Golf New Zealand, expressed enthusiasm for the new venture. “We’re excited to welcome Steinlager, one of New Zealand’s most iconic brands, as a Golf New Zealand partner,” he said. “Together, we’ll create more experiences and value for golfers and clubs, celebrating the pride and passion at the heart of our game.”

Lauren Dyke, Steinlager Senior Brand Manager at Lion, highlighted how the partnership reinforces the brand’s rich sporting legacy. “At the heart of Steinlager is a beer that champions New Zealand greatness and national pride. Partnering with Golf New Zealand is a natural extension of this longstanding legacy, and we’re excited to back the sport as it continues to grow – celebrating Kiwi golfers, clubs, and communities across the country.”

As the Official Beer of Golf New Zealand, Steinlager will continue its tradition of supporting New Zealand’s Finest, from world-class athletes on the international stage to passionate golfers on fairways across the country.
