Superstar panel to entertain at the Schweppes National Conference Dinner

POSTED ON August 8, 2019 @ 7:32 pm

As part of the 2019 GMA National Conference, the Schweppes Dinner will be held on Tuesday 8th October in the MCC Dining Room.  As such, GMA and Schweppes are delighted to announce an outstanding ‘Achieving Excellence’ panel which has been assembled as part of the entertainment on the night.

The dinner panel will include Cameron Ling, Damien Fleming and Anna Mears.

While the Conference Dinner will be a relaxed occasion with a significant amount of time allocated to networking and socialising, the 45 minute ‘Achieving Excellence” panel will no doubt provide attendees with outstanding insights and entertainment during the night.

Schweppes National Sales Manager – Daniel Christie said, “while Schweppes is the naming rights partner for the GMA National Conference, the conference dinner is a real highlight from a personal perspective and the calibre of sports people sitting on the panel will no doubt add significantly to the night”.

While the panel will be well known to most, each member will bring some outstanding credentials and experience.  Firstly, Cameron Ling, whose AFL career included 246 games for the Geelong Cats, beginning in 2000 and culminating in his final game as captain of the premiership winning Cats in 2011.  “Lingy” was known as a respected, hard-working team member whose leadership helped shape Geelong’s 2007, 2009 and 2011 Premiership winning teams.  His personal accolades during this time were numerous, and since retiring, he has been part of the Channel 7 and 3AW commentary teams in an expert commentary role.

While Anna will be delivering a keynote address to members on Wednesday afternoon of the conference, she will also be part of the panel on Tuesday night.  Anna is considered by many to be the greatest cyclist of all time and in Rio became the first Australian athlete to ever win four individual medals at four consecutive Olympic Games.

Despite a terrible cycling accident in 2008 which left her with a hairline fracture in her C2 vertebrae, Anna has collected 18 gold, 16 silver and 10 bronze medals at Olympic, World and Commonwealth Games level. In February 2015 Anna won the women’s keirin for her 11th world track cycling title making her the most decorated and successful female track cyclist in history.

Finally, former Australian cricket Damien Fleming whose highlight reel includes being only one of three men to ever take a test hat-trick on debut, playing in two World Cup Finals and taking a total of 209 Test and One Day International wickets.  Since retirement, Damien has been heavily involvement in the broadcasting of the game, and will no doubt have some entertaining stories regarding the time at the famous MCG.

For conference delegates who register as a Full Conference delegate, the Schweppes Dinner is included in your registration.
