Last month, the Australian and New Zealand golf industry was guested by two of America’s leading club industry speakers – Gregg Patterson and Norm Spitzig, during the duos first ever joint roadshow “downunder”- Strategic Issues for Private Club Governance.

The week of May 9–13, the eloquent pair, accompanied by Golf Industry Central’s own Mike Orloff, took the road for several days ‘Downunder’ to educate golf managers, and board and committee members in the fine art of successfully governing a great private golf club.

After opening at Nudgee Golf Club in Brisbane on May 9, Gregg and Norm hit the ground running, bringing their educational seminar to Huntingdale Golf Club in Melbourne (with 2nd day sideshow on service) and Moore Park Golf Club in Sydney, before flying off to New Zealand for their final presentation at the Remuera Golf Club, Auckland, by the week’s end.

“It was great to see these old friends just enjoying the time to give back to the industry that has been so very good to them, organiser Mike Orloff said of the event.

“It was also fantastic to see so many delegates that had not previoulsy experienced their messages and enthusiasm for the club world.”

Being in the works for some time, Orloff said is was great to finally bring the roadshow to fruition, which was initially devised after an event the trio each presented at in Jakarta back in 2014.

“We tried to get off ground last year but timing was bad as Gregg and Norm are booked out to speak almost two year’s in advance,” Orloff said. “To get them both together on the same week is tough,”

“It was a great experience for Golf Industry Central to finally get this roadshow happening after three years of discussion.” “It was full on though without much of a break after shows as we had to then head over to airport to catch flight for next city”, “it felt like a rock band tour in many ways!”
