The 2026 LIV Golf Adelaide tournament has cemented its status as the largest golf event in Australian history, delivering a total economic impact of $118.6 million USD ($165.0 million AUD) to the national economy.
The event, held at The Grange Golf Club from February 12-15, generated $69.8 million USD ($97.1 million AUD) directly into the South Australian economy, marking a 36% increase compared to 2025. This direct financial injection was fueled by organizational spending and a massive influx of interstate and international visitors.
On the course, the home crowd witnessed a historic domestic triumph as Australia’s own Ripper GC squad—comprising Cameron Smith, Lucas Herbert, Marc Leishman, and Elvis Smylie, captured the team title. The expanded four-day, 72-hole tournament also saw 4Aces GC’s Anthony Kim complete a historic comeback to claim his first-ever LIV Golf individual title.
Global Scale and Milestone Financial Impact
The landmark Australian event contributed to a broader global milestone for the league. To date, LIV Golf has generated more than $1.5 billion USD in total global economic impact across its international schedule. Over its four-year history, the Adelaide stop alone has delivered a cumulative $314.6 million AUD in economic contribution to South Australia.
Tourism and Changing Fan Demographics
The tournament served as a significant tourism driver, with 43% of the record 115,000 attendees traveling from outside South Australia. Among these out-of-state visitors, 22,721 traveled from other parts of Australia, staying an average of 3.71 nights to attend multiple tournament days.

The 115,000 total attendance figure represents a 12% increase from 2025 (102,483) and a rise from 2024 (94,327). The crowd dynamics reflected an evolving fan base: 36% of attendees were visiting their first golf event, 14% identified as non-golf players, 39% were under the age of 45, and women accounted for 29% of the total crowd. Additionally, more than 7,000 first responders, military veterans, and students attended.
“LIV Golf Adelaide continues to set a new standard for what a golf tournament can bring to a city,” said Ross Hallett, EVP, Head of Events for LIV Golf. “The passion of the fans in South Australia is unmatched, and we’re incredibly proud to see growing interest and support for LIV Golf as well as Ripper GC. The event’s success has translated into a substantial and lasting positive impact for the region and is a testament to the impact we want to have with our partners in host communities across the globe. We’re grateful to SATC and the Premier for their continued support as we continue to set new benchmarks for the golf industry.”
South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas emphasized the long-term benefits of the partnership.
“LIV Golf Adelaide has given us 314 million reasons to back in major events for South Australia,” Malinauskas said. “Not only did the 2026 tournament generate over $97 million for our economy, but it broke national and LIV attendance records and cemented our state’s position as a forward-thinking leader in world-class event delivery. The value of international events like LIV Golf goes way beyond the dollar figure, with the thousands of out-of-state attendees going on to be passionate advocates for South Australia as a place to visit, live, and do business for years to come.”
Accelerating Grassroots Golf Participation Across Australia
The event’s footprint extends to national youth development through the “MyGolf, powered by Ripper GC” initiative—a partnership between LIV Golf, Ripper GC, and Golf Australia. Targeting children aged 5-12, the program reached nearly 17,000 junior golfers across 444 venues in 2024. In 2026, the program is on track to reach a target of over 40,000 junior golfers nationwide.

Prior to the 2026 tournament, Ripper GC hosted a masterclass clinic and meet-and-greet for 70 local youth. These domestic developmental efforts coincide with a 112% increase in under-18 Australian golf club memberships over a rolling five-year period. Australian professional golfer Grace Kim was also recently named an Ambassador to the program to encourage female youth participation.
Festival Culture and Inclusivity Programs
The tournament integrated local cultural and entertainment elements, featuring four nights of post-play concerts. Australian acts Peking Duk and Royel Otis performed on Thursday and Friday. U.S. DJ John Summit performed Saturday, drawing 60% of the day’s fans (17,550 people), while Australian DJ FISHER performed Sunday following the trophy ceremony.

The Fan Village showcased the work of Indigenous artist Tony Albert, alongside the Savour by LIV Golf Culinary Showcase and a wine tasting experience with Penfolds Winery. For accessibility, the tournament fully introduced the Sunflower program, providing dedicated spaces and a specialized sensory bus for fans with hidden disabilities.
Environmental Performance Standards
Through its “LIV For Good” platform, the tournament is pursuing GEO Sustainable Golf Event accreditation for the third consecutive year. LIV Golf remains the first league in the golf industry to achieve ISO 20121 certification for sustainable event management, aligning with international standards held by F1, the Olympics, Liverpool FC, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
On-site sustainability measures included 20 solar towers, utilization of The Grange Golf Club’s 90% renewable mains power, a closed-loop waste system featuring 96% biodegradable branding, and the donation of 17 tons of event carpet to local housing projects for reuse.
