Official launch of $25m project to transform Claremont Golf Course
BUYERS have already started snapping up units in a new $25 million residential development near the Cadbury chocolate factory in Hobart.
Vos Constructions today said it expected to complete the first stage of the 69-unit One Bournville development by mid 2017.
Director Darren Vos said 11 of the 16 units in the first stage had already been sold, with the remaining units expected to sell in the mid-$400,000 price range,
Construction will start at the Claremont Golf Course site in early 2017.
“It’s a really unique piece of land here, the peninsula itself is surrounded by the Derwent,” Mr Vos said.
“I think you can’t beat the location.”
The much-anticipated development was officially unveiled today after spending years on the backburner.
The project includes 69 north-facing waterfront apartments, all with panoramic water views, and half also with views of the Claremont Golf Course.

Mr Hodgman said the project was expected to contribute $25 million to the Tasmanian economy and deliver 100 jobs during the construction phase.
“Tasmanian business confidence is among the highest in the country,” he said.
Glenorchy Mayor Kristie Johnston said the development would provide desperately needed housing.
“We welcome the development opportunity, it’s fantastic it’s finally come to fruition,” Alderman Johnston said.
She said she expected the development would cater for the semi-retired. The Glenorchy City Council considered applications related to the site in 2012 and 2014.
Minor amendments were made to the previously approved application earlier this year.
The Mercury reported in March that a Chinese consortium was considering a $100 million hotel, marina and serviced apartments development for the golf club site.
Golf club executives Brian Richardson and John Erends had been meeting regularly with the group.
Mr Hodgman said the office of the Coordinator-General was working with the Claremont Golf Club Committee to attract investment to “help it realise a bigger redevelopment including a hotel, modern bowling green facility, marina and a visitor centre.”
Mr Richardson said he could not comment on either development.
