Golf NSW Appoints Industry Leader Beverley Lewis to Board

POSTED ON January 13, 2026 @ 11:49 am

Golf NSW has officially announced the election of Beverley Lewis to its Board of Directors, a move set to strengthen the organization’s strategic leadership and governance through her extensive experience in both the corporate and golfing sectors.

Lewis joins the state’s peak body for golf following a trailblazing tenure at Northbridge Golf Club. After joining their Board in 2018, she ascended to the role of Vice President in 2020 before making history in 2022 as the club’s first female President.

A Legacy of Strategic Growth

During her seven years on the Northbridge Board, Lewis has been credited with modernizing the club’s operations and securing its long-term viability. Her key achievements include:

  • Strategic Planning: Establishing the Future Planning Committee and delivering a comprehensive roadmap for growth.
  • Asset Security: Securing a landmark 21-year lease in partnership with the local council and the Northbridge/Willoughby community.
  • Digital Transformation: Leading a full governance renewal and overseeing the implementation of upgraded digital systems and compliance frameworks.

Diverse Perspectives and Professional Pedigree

Lewis enters the role as a rare voice in the industry; currently, fewer than 1% of golf club presidents in Australia are women. An active player with a 15.7 handicap and a Level 2 Rules Official qualification, she brings a practical understanding of the sport alongside a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Beyond the green, Lewis boasts a high-level corporate background in the technology sector. With an INSEAD Executive MBA, she has held senior leadership positions at global firms including Telstra, IBM, and CSC (now DXC Technology).

Vision for the Future

In a statement regarding her election, Lewis emphasized her desire to ensure the sport remains “vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable.”

“I am motivated to contribute to Golf NSW because I believe in the organisation’s vision to grow the game and strengthen clubs,” Lewis said. “I aim to contribute strategic thinking, digital innovation, and collaborative leadership to support Golf NSW’s ongoing growth and modernisation.”

Golf NSW Chair Michael Medway welcomed the appointment, noting that Lewis’s blend of commercial insight and passion for the game arrives at a pivotal time for the sport in New South Wales. “Her experience and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow the game across the state,” Medway said.
