Federal Golf Club Welcomes New Leadership Team for Golf Operations

Federal Golf Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Damon Welsford as the club’s new Director of Golf, commencing in early October. Damon is a familiar and well-respected face at Federal, having spent five formative years with the club as a Teaching and Assistant Professional. During that time, he built strong relationships with members and contributed significantly to the growth of the golf program.

Since leaving Federal, Damon has gone on to build an impressive career, holding senior positions at Royal Canberra and most recently serving as Director of Golf at Gold Creek. His career spans over 20 years, including nearly a decade competing on tour, and he brings a wealth of experience in club operations, coaching, and member engagement.

“Damon’s passion for the game, commitment to service, and ability to foster a positive and inclusive golf culture make him an ideal leader for our golf operations team,” said Lloyd Miller, General Manager of Federal Golf Club. “We’re thrilled to welcome him back to Federal and excited about the future under his leadership.”

In addition, Federal Golf Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Jean as Assistant Director of Golf. Lisa is currently the Head Teaching Professional at Royal Canberra and will bring extensive coaching expertise and operational experience to the club.

Lisa turned professional in 2004 after attending Oklahoma State University on a golf scholarship and went on to earn full status on the Ladies European Tour, where she competed for six years. Following her playing career, she held roles in Golf Operations at Huntingdale, served as Head Teaching Professional at Albert Park, and was Head Professional at Murray Downs.

Lisa is a PGA of Australia member, a proud Callaway Ambassador, and a specialist in Trackman and video analysis technology.
